I Want More Customers. I Just Don't Want Them Looking at Me.
☕ The Person Who Wants to Make Videos Already Exists
Most business owners think they have to show up as someone other than themselves in videos for their social media.
A confident person. A visible person. A person who isn't afraid to hit record. A person who somehow knows exactly what to say and never worries about looking awkward.
But that's not actually what's happening.
The fact that you're struggling with visibility is evidence that visibility matters to you. If it didn't, you wouldn't care. You wouldn't read articles about social media. You wouldn't save tips about video. You wouldn't follow people who teach content creation. You wouldn't feel that little knot in your stomach every time another week goes by without posting.
People don't wrestle with things they don't care about.
The conflict exists because there are two things brewing inside you at the same time. One part wants growth. One part wants safety. One part sees what could be possible if you showed up consistently. The other part wants to avoid judgment, mistakes, criticism, and discomfort.
The future version of you isn't some stranger waiting at the finish line.
It's you. The same person. Just with less fear making the decisions.
And we're going to get you across that line.
☕ There Is a Spark Underneath the Fear
Everybody I work with has it.
The realtor. The dog trainer. The hairstylist. The mortgage lender. The HR director. The restaurant owner.
Underneath all the reasons they can't start yet, there's always something else quietly simmering.
A thought they rarely say out loud.
Maybe I could do this.
Maybe I'd actually be good at this.
Maybe people would listen.
Maybe I really could help someone.
That's the spark.
It's why they keep coming back to the idea of video. It's why they keep watching content about social media. It's why they keep telling themselves they'll start next week, next month, or after they learn one more thing.
The spark doesn't need to be created. It's already there.
Like coffee beans waiting to be brewed, all the potential already exists. The heat hasn't been applied yet.
☕ Fear Is Not the Opposite of Readiness
This is where people get themselves stuck.
They think confidence comes first. Then action. Then results.
But confidence doesn't work that way. Confidence is brewed after the action, not before it.
Every client I've ever worked with has been scared. Every single one. Some hated hearing their own voice. Some were convinced they'd look ridiculous. Some wanted to disappear the second they saw themselves on camera.
None of that was unusual.
The difference wasn't confidence. The difference was willingness. The fear didn't vanish. They simply moved anyway.
☕ Your Brand Voice Is Hiding Underneath the Fear
This is where the conversation gets really interesting because video isn't actually the destination.
Most people think they're trying to learn social media. What they're really learning is how to stop performing.
The moment people hit record, something strange happens. They start sounding like somebody else. Suddenly they're more formal. More polished. More corporate. More careful. In other words, they stop sounding like themselves.
Why?
Because being yourself feels vulnerable. And vulnerability feels risky.
So they put on the mask.
The problem is that the mask has no personality. The mask has no conviction. The mask has no stories. The mask has no spark.
The version of you that people connect with isn't the polished version.
It's the real version.
Your brand voice isn't missing.
You're simply editing it out before anyone gets a chance to hear it.
☕ Every Video Burns Off a Little More of the Mask
This is something I've watched happen over and over again.
The first video feels awkward. The second video feels awkward. The fifth video feels a little less awkward. Then something starts to shift.
The more you see yourself, the more familiar you become to yourself. The more familiar you become, the less you feel the need to perform. The less you perform, the more your real voice starts showing up.
Like roasting coffee beans, the process isn't creating something new. It's revealing what's already there.
The flavor was always inside. The heat simply brought it out.
☕ Is my Job to Teach Video?
People often think they hire me to learn social media. That's only part of the story.
What they're really looking for is someone willing to stand beside them while they do the thing that feels scary. Someone who can see what they're capable of before they can see it themselves.
A coach.
A guide.
A teacher.
Someone willing to say, "Nope. You're not hiding behind that excuse today."
I've spent my entire life doing exactly that. I did it in a classroom. I do it in business now. The medium has changed; the mission hasn't.
Helping people discover what they're capable of has always been the assignment.
☕ You're a Rockstar Underneath
I've done this long enough to know that the people who come to me already have what they need inside them.
The expertise is there.
The passion is there.
The stories are there.
The personality is there.
THE SPARK IS THERE!
Nobody needs me to manufacture those things. My job is to hand them a microphone and strike the match.
Because underneath all the fear, all the overthinking, all the reasons they think they aren't ready yet, there's a rockstar waiting to be seen. And the audience is already waiting for them to take the stage.
