Keep Your Posts Piping Hot with a Brand Kit
☕ Week 2: Brand Kit Brew — Organize Your Canva Like a Pro
So you’ve taken the first step: you’ve brain dumped your brilliance and started training your AI assistant. The ideas are flowing — but now you need a visual identity that keeps pace with your message.
Welcome to Week 2 of our Brew It Yourself: DIY Social Media series. This week, we’re diving into the cozy, comforting world of Canva + Brand Kits — the kind of structure that keeps your posts from looking like a different business every time you hit “Publish.”
I use Canva because I am NOT a graphic designer. However, am a very good social media graphic post designer. Canva is just silly easy. And I used it as a teacher, so it just made sense to use it in social media marketing.
☕ What’s a Brand Kit — and Why You Need One?
Think of your Brand Kit as your go-to coffee order. It’s familiar, it’s consistent, and it tells people what to expect from you. No surprises, no jarring misalignments — just smooth, steady sips of recognition.
Inside your Canva Brand Kit, you’ll set:
☕ Your exact brand colors using hex codes (not “kinda blue” — your blue)
☕ Your brand fonts — headers, subheaders, body text
☕ Your logos and brand photos for easy access when designing
The goal? Fidelity to your brand. Whether you're using Canva’s pre-made templates or creating your own designs from scratch, you’ll always start with your style already loaded — like walking into your kitchen and finding your favorite mug washed and ready.
☕ Real Talk: Why Organization is Half the Battle
When you’re just starting to post your own content, Canva can become either your best friend or your cluttered desktop nightmare.
Here’s my system to keep it fresh and functional:
🗂️ One File to Rule Them All
Create one Canva file that houses all your designs. Not five. Not ten. ONE.
Inside that file:
Add slides labeled by day of the week (e.g., Monday, Tuesday, etc.)
Use a naming convention like
Mon_01192026so you always know when and why you made itKeep your favorite design elements handy and reuse what works
This helps you:
Grab a past post when you need a quick refresh
Keep your visual identity consistent
Save time (because we’re not here to reinvent the graphic every dang day)
☕ “But What About Brand Voice?”
Glad you asked — but that’s for another day. While your full brand kit can include brand personality traits and tone (especially when using AI), we’re keeping this week focused on visuals. Think fonts, colors, photos, logos. The good stuff that makes you recognizable. Psst- you're already using Chad to write your posts.
☕ Takeaway Brew
A brand kit isn’t about being fancy. It’s about being clear, consistent, and easy to recognize. You don’t need to hire a designer. You just need to set up your tools to work for you.
And when you use Canva the way I teach you in Caffeinate Your Socials, it becomes less about chasing trends — and more about showing up with purpose.
So before you post that next quote graphic or promotion, ask yourself:
“Does this look like me?”
If not — it’s time to open Canva and brew your brand kit.
